Mus. 264-6Printed. Three partbooks (Canto, Alto, Basso) from an otherwise lost set of five, wanting the Tenor and Basso Continuo.
Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item G1, as 'Calvy's Cantica Sacra', to which a later hand has added '3 Books'. In Dowding (main hand), this is expanded to read 'Venice 1629. Monteverde, Palatino, Donati con stromenti, Alessandro Grande, Turino &c.' Upright format, 240 x 170 mm. C17th wrappers of thick grey paper, now within early C20th bindings of limp vellum with ties. The original wrappers are annotated with voice-names and 'Calvi 1. 2. 3. & 4. voci' in an unidentified C17th hand. Shelfmark 'G.1' on original upper wrapper of Mus. 264 only. Bookplate 2 in Mus. 264 only. 19th-century shelfmarks: I.3.171-3.
